Arizona Transportation of Drugs Lawyers
If you’ve been accused of transportation of drugs, you are facing some serious charges. Under Arizona law, drug-related crimes come with some of the harshest penalties. A conviction can result in imprisonment and/or fines. Additionally, if you’re found guilty, you could face collateral consequences, such as losing your job, being denied federal aid for college, or having difficulty finding a place to live.
When working toward a favorable outcome in your case, it’s best to have a seasoned attorney on your side. At Oliverson & Huss Law PLLC, our Arizona lawyers have more than 40 years of combined experience and have handled 1000s of cases, including 70 jury trials. Our team consists of former prosecutors, and one of our attorneys is a former police officer and judge. Turning to us for your defense means you will have a team with unique insights into the criminal justice system fighting for you.

How Does Arizona Define Transportation of Drugs
If law enforcement officers found illegal drugs in your home, on your person, in your vehicle, or at another location under your control, they will analyze the substance and measure its quantity. If they find more than would be reasonably assumed you could possess for personal use, you will be charged with transportation with the intent to sell.
The legal thresholds for common drugs include:
- Methamphetamine: 9 grams
- Powdered cocaine: 9 grams
- Rock cocaine: ¾ of a gram
- Heroin: 1 gram
- LSD: ½ millimeter or 50 dosage units
- PCP: 4 grams or 50 milliliters
- Marijuana: More than 2 pounds
Drug transportation convictions carry heavy penalties, with substantial prison time, even in cases in which the quantities do not meet the threshold for a charge of intent to sell. If the amounts were above the threshold, you could face even longer in state prison. If you are accused of transporting drugs, the road ahead could be difficult without the help of an attorney. The quality and experience of your defense lawyer could not be more critical in these high-stakes drug cases.
